Villa Fredbo is a historic Swiss-style villa located on the Oslofjord, approximately 50 minutes by car and around one hour by ferry and public transport from central Oslo.
Available for film, photography, television, commercial and editorial productions, the property offers a rare combination of historic architecture, curated interiors, an orangery and an extraordinary forest garden within a single secluded location.
The estate is a private home and ongoing creative project, shaped over many years through design, restoration and landscape development. Today it provides a distinctive collection of spaces where architecture, gardens and atmosphere work together to create visually rich environments for storytelling.

Unlike purpose-built venues or studio locations, Villa Fredbo remains a lived-in historic home.
Over many years the property has evolved through a continuous process of restoration, design and landscape development. The result is an authentic environment with a strong sense of place, where interiors, buildings and gardens feel naturally connected.
For productions seeking character, atmosphere and genuine Scandinavian surroundings, Villa Fredbo offers a setting that cannot easily be replicated.
The House
Built in the late nineteenth century, the villa combines original architectural details with carefully curated interiors.
Natural materials, collected objects, historic features and warm Scandinavian tones create an atmosphere that feels both elegant and lived-in. The house works equally well for editorial photography, lifestyle productions, television, commercials and creative campaigns.
Large windows provide beautiful natural light throughout the day, while the varied rooms offer a range of visual styles within a single building.
The Orangery
One of the property's most distinctive features is its orangery.
Built from reclaimed materials, old brick and large windows, it offers a unique atmosphere filled with texture, character and natural light.
Surrounded by gardens and greenery, the orangery has become a favourite setting for editorial photography, product campaigns, lifestyle shoots, interviews and creative productions seeking an environment that feels both rustic and refined.
The Forest Garden
At the heart of Villa Fredbo lies a one-acre forest garden developed over many years as a series of interconnected outdoor spaces.
Designed to blend naturally with the surrounding woodland, the garden combines mature trees, flowering borders, orchards, kitchen gardens and secluded seating areas with larger gathering spaces and open clearings.
Large weatherproof sail canopies are suspended high between the trees, creating more than 200 square metres of sheltered outdoor space while preserving the feeling of being immersed in nature.
The garden features lounge areas, atmospheric pathways, an outdoor kitchen, two stages, garden dining settings, ponds and a collection of distinctive outdoor rooms designed for celebrations, photography and creative productions.
Historic timber buildings, weathered facades and a restrained palette of natural materials provide a uniquely Scandinavian backdrop that changes beautifully throughout the seasons.
By day the garden feels lush, natural and secluded.
By night, lanterns, fire pits and strings of lights transform the landscape into an atmospheric environment rarely found so close to Oslo.
Multiple Environments – One Location
One of the greatest advantages of Villa Fredbo is the variety of settings available within a single property.
Productions can move seamlessly between:
• Historic villa interiors • Curated living spaces • Orangery interiors • Forest garden landscapes • Woodland settings • Garden dining environments • Outdoor kitchen scenes • Lounge areas and gathering spaces • Orchard and pond settings • Rustic cabins and small character buildings
This diversity allows multiple visual stories to be created without relocating crew, equipment or production base.
Beyond the Property
The surrounding Spro area offers additional filming opportunities within walking distance of the property.
Nearby forests, shoreline landscapes, coastal paths and the historic Spro Mines provide striking contrasts to the gardens and architecture of the estate.
The Spro Mines are known for their dramatic atmosphere and have previously been used for film and television productions.
Together, Villa Fredbo and its surroundings provide an exceptional range of visual environments within a compact geographical area.

Accommodation may be available on the property for selected productions.
Several unique guest spaces can accommodate crew members, photographers, stylists or talent during multi-day shoots, providing a convenient base and reducing travel logistics.
